Zalando Lounge and Hillwood Celebrate Roofing Ceremony of New Fulfillment Center in Olsztynek

• July 18, traditional wreath lifted at first Zalando Lounge fulfillment center

• Around 500 new jobs in Olsztyn region to be created in mid-term

• The logistics center to measure 130,000 square meters

• First operations to start early 2019

Olsztynek, July 18, 2018 // Zalando Lounge and Hillwood Development Company, LLC., a leading developer of logistics facilities, celebrated the roofing ceremony of its new fulfillment center in Olsztynek today. With the honourable guest Olsztynek’s City Mayor Artur Wrochna, the traditional wreath was lifted at the construction site.

The construction work of the fulfillment center started in February 2018. The development of the fulfillment center has been assigned to Hillwood, a leading company in developing and acquiring high quality commercial properties across Europe and North America. The center will be managed by an external provider who will oversee the hiring process of around 500 employees in the mid-term. The third party logistics provider will be selected through tender. The start of the facility's operation is planned for beginning of 2019.

The fulfillment center in Olsztynek will measure 130,000 sqm. Good infrastructure with direct access to the S51 and S7 expressways, and the availability of labour are some of the reasons for Zalando Lounge’s choice of this location.

“We are finishing the constructions of the outside of the main building. The logistics team will then start construction works inside the building. The set-up of the building and the intralogistics can be adapted to our own needs. It offers us more flexibility around capacity for Zalando Lounge as it can be scaled as needed. We already gained very good experiences and learnings to build upon with the existing fulfillment center in Szczecin, as well as from the Lodz site; currently still under construction,” says Sven Thiessen, Head of Logistics Zalando Lounge.
