BERLIN, APRIL 12 2021 // Zalando, Europe’s leading online platform for fashion and lifestyle, continues its strategic partnership with Copenhagen Fashion Week by opening the application round for the second Zalando Sustainability Award. With the award, Zalando aims to encourage fashion brands to explore sustainable alternatives and recognizes strategies that contribute to a more sustainable industry. The award also plays into Zalando’s sustainability strategy, do.MORE, and is an opportunity for Zalando to leverage its platform to facilitate collaboration across the industry; putting the spotlight on brands that share its vision.

The deadline for brands to apply is May 4, and the winner will be announced on August 13 at Copenhagen Fashion Week 2021. The winning brand will receive a prize of 20,000 euros as well as a partnership with Zalando in developing an exclusive capsule collection.

The collection will explore sustainability solutions in design across materials, production processes, technological solutions, and traceability with the aim to gain learnings that can be shared with the industry. To further support the winning brand in its business growth, Zalando will make the brand available to its more than 38 million active customers across 17 European markets.

Three finalists will be chosen by an international jury consisting of industry thought-leaders, leadership representatives from Zalando, and the Copenhagen Fashion Week show committee on May 27. All three finalists will receive 10,000 euros for production costs and become part of Copenhagen Fashion Week’s show schedule, which will take place on August 10-12. The jury members will closely review each brand’s sustainability strategy, collection, and level of dedication to sustainable advancements and innovation.

Brands can enter the application round by sending their sustainability strategy and a motivational letter to zsa@zalando.de
