BERLIN, JUNE 8, 2023 // On June 15, Zalando, a leading European online platform for fashion and lifestyle, will launch, exclusively on its platform, the collection ‘The Art of Remade’ by the Danish designer brand Designers Remix. For the collection, Designers Remix has upcycled deadstock1 from Zalando and the brand’s own studio into 20 pieces ranging from dresses to shorts, tops, blazers, shirts and hats. The range includes six hero pieces, produced in limited quantities, due to the nature of the partially hand-made design process. The collection is available to customers in all of Zalando’s 25 European markets.

Partnering up with Designers Remix pays into Zalando’s ambition to double down on the Designer proposition, establish the platform as a credible, fresh and inclusive partner for luxury and designer brands, and be the destination of choice for aspirational contemporary customers. An important part of this vision is inspiring customers by offering them exclusive collections with exciting designer brands.

Lena-Sophie Röper Director Designer & Luxury at Zalando says: “We are thrilled to be working with Designers Remix on this special collection that focuses on the core notion of creating love pieces. Quality and cultural association with a brand is very important to our Designer proposition. Designers Remix is a highly relevant brand especially for our Nordic customers, and it ranks among the best-selling Scandinavian brands on Zalando. Collaborating with Designers Remix on an exclusive collection is an opportunity for us to offer something truly exciting and locally relevant to our customers, as well as honour and celebrate Nordic designers and creatives.”

Zalando and Designers Remix have a long-standing partnership since 2016 and have previously collaborated on two capsule collections, both named “Small steps. Big impact”, released in 2020. The new collection includes a diverse range of styles and materials ranging from baroque-inspired jacquard fabrics, beautiful feminine satin and tulle dresses and skirts, to masculine trousers and blazers. It was crafted in the brand’s Copenhagen studio by Creative Director Charlotte Eskildsen and her team consisting of young talented woman designers, who each have signed their names into the garments as a small personal gesture for the wearer. The six hero pieces named “The Carrie-program” are inspired by the iconic TV show, “Sex and the City”.

Charlotte Eskildsen, Creative Director at Designers Remix: “The new collection is a tribute to women of style - women who have an urge to explore the contrasts of styling, adding masculine counterpoints to something ultra-feminine. The process of curating the inventory is key for the concept. When working on the capsule, it was all about finding balance and being able to create a cohesive look which matches our brand DNA.”

The collection is celebrated in the dedicated campaign ‘The Art of Remade’. Seeking to merge the worlds of fashion and art and put craftsmanship at the forefront, the campaign brings together the artistic vision of Designers Remix and set designer Fatima Fransson. For the campaign, Fransson constructed an art installation using fabric from previous projects to create an abstract textile universe.

1 To Zalando, upcycling means treating products in such a way that the resulting product is of a higher value than the original item. The deadstock coming from Zalando consists of garments that have remained in inventory for more than two seasons.
