“At Zalando, logistics is an essential part of our DNA and we're proud to have a strong team at our sites,” said Carsten Bernstein, Director Logistics Warehouses DE. “We were excited to offer an inside look at how fashion and lifestyle products move through our fulfilment centres and onto trucks to be shipped to our customers. We also wanted to show our visitors that Zalando is an attractive place to work for - warehouse logistics staff and engineers.”

The Bundesvereinigung Logistik (BVL) launched Supply Chain Day in 2008 to offer the public a closer look at logistics processes at different companies in Germany.

We invited stakeholders, local partners, students and members of the public to take a logistics tour of our fulfilment centres in Erfurt (Thuringia), Lahr (Baden-Württemberg) and Mönchengladbach (North Rhine-Westphalia). During the tours, visitors could see the inner workings of our logistics centres, such as the advanced technology and processes that drive our operations. Visitors saw automated sorting systems and learned how we continually optimise our logistics processes to ensure our customers receive their packages quickly and reliably.

Our local teams led the respective tours and answered questions, sharing their insights from the world of e-commerce logistics. Among other queries, visitors were interested in learning about how many bags an automated sorter can hold and how many items are stored in a warehouse. “We welcomed around 260 visitors across 13 tours at three logistics centres,” said Bernstein. “They had the opportunity to see the warehouses in-action and speak to the Talent Acquisition team involved in recruiting for Zalando logistics.”
