Under the Paris Agreement on climate change, governments have agreed to an objective to limit global warming to well below 2 degrees Celsius, and preferably to 1.5 degrees. We strongly support the agreement and want to play our part in achieving the objectives. Together, we are in a race against time to get there.
In 2020, we adopted science-based targets (SBTs) for scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions under the Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi)
We do our homework in our own operations and have managed to reduce carbon emissions by 64% since 2017, for example by sourcing 100% renewable electricity. Our target is to reach an 80% reduction by 2025. We also offset the emissions we cannot reduce through nature-based solutions.
However, as a platform, we know that the vast majority of our emissions come from our indirect spheres, so called scope 3. Most noticeably, 60% of our emissions come from the manufacturing of the products we sell. To tackle this, we are working on two fronts. First, we are developing a strategy in order to reduce the emissions from our own private label products by 40% per million euros gross profit by 2025 from a 2018 base year. Secondly, we are engaging our key partners (by emissions) to encourage them to set science-based reduction targets themselves.

Why we need you
Collaboration is key to ensure that change happens along the entire supply chain. We recognize our position as a platform and have committed to engaging our partners to also set science-based targets, covering 90% of our scope 3 emissions. This includes our packaging and last-mile delivery partners, as well as you, our brand partners. Until 2025, a set of our brand partners needs to set science-based targets.
How we will support you
To support you in this process, we are developing tailored material including dedicated webinars where we will share relevant information around carbon footprint calculation and SBT setting, as well as industry best practices in these areas. Additionally, we are rolling out a pilot project where some of our brand partners will receive 1-1 consultancy support in setting SBTs.
