A new Berlin Zalando Outlet opens to mark the anniversary

  • The success story of Zalando Outlets began 10 years ago with the first store in Berlin-Kreuzberg.

Berlin, March 25, 2022 // Zalando, one of Europe's leading online platforms for fashion and lifestyle, is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Zalando Outlets with the opening of a new store in Berlin's City West, located at Tauentzienstraße 18. Across a total of four floors and more than 1,000 square meters of floor space, customers will find an extensive and constantly changing range of designer and brand-name products. Several light installations in the store showcase well-known Berlin landmarks such as the Brandenburg Gate or the Oberbaum Bridge.

With this new store near the famous Kurfürstendamm shopping street, a second Zalando Outlet comes to Berlin. The success story of the Zalando Outlets began in the capital ten years ago: the first store was opened in 2012 on a converted industrial site in Berlin-Kreuzberg, directly on the Spree. The outlet concept with reduced-price items has won over many customers in a short time. There are now 13 Zalando Outlets across Germany with a total shopping area of ​​around 16,000 square meters. Customers can find up to 15,000 items from around 500 brands in each store.

"The fact that we can open a new store in a prime location in Berlin in time for the start of our anniversary year is a great birthday present for us," says Dorothee Schönfeld, Managing Director of Zalando Outlets.

“We are very happy about the positive response from the countless fashion fans who have visited us over the past 10 years. The outlets have succeeded because they strategically complement Zalando's other offers – and we have a lot more planned for the coming years," Schönfeld added.

The clothing items offered in the Zalando Outlets were previously available in the Zalando Fashion Store or the Zalando Lounge shopping club and enter the stores as soon as they are, for example, single sizes or merchandise from previous seasons. In this way, items, including many returns, are given a second chance to become someone's favorite piece. Thus, the outlets make an important contribution to Zalando's vision to be a more sustainable fashion platform.

The brick-and-mortar outlets make the Zalando brand a tangible reality – whether in Hamburg or Constance, Cologne or Leipzig, Zalando Outlets stand for a special shopping experience. They are centrally located and reflect the local character of the cities, so that each store is connected to its unique environment. The design of the stores is spacious, clear, and inspiring, with wide aisles, free WiFi, and a lounge area with phone-charging stations.
